Not much news out of the Huskies on Monday. Three key players missed Saturday’s game, and the status for all three is still unknown this early in the week.
There’s no doubt cornerback Byron Davenport hopes to be recovered enough from his hamstring injuries to play this weekend. Davenport started his college career at UCLA before deciding to transfer. Dan Howell, who missed Saturday’s game with a knee injury, is on the depth chart as a starting outside linebacker. Tailback Brandon Johnson, who is also the team’s kick returner, missed Saturday with bruised ribs. He too is on the depth chart.
Among the many topics brought up at Monday’s press conference was Washington’s lack of rushing offense, Jake Locker not included. Here’s my take on that topic from Monday’s paper.
The first poll of the Master Coaches Survey came out today (they elect to wait until the third week to put out a poll). LSU and USC are tied at the top. Washington missed the top 25, but did get four votes. The Master Coaches Survey is made up of 17 former college football coaches, many college hall of famers, including Don James.
