Monroe boys start season 4-0 with strong finish

The Bearcats took down the Meadowdale 68-56 on Wednesday thanks to multiple quality contributions.

Monroe 68, Meadowdale 56

MONROE — The Bearcats (4-0 overall) saved their best for last, finishing off the Mavericks (3-1) with their largest lead of 12 by the night’s end. It was a balanced performance from Monroe, as Isaiah Kiehl led the way with 19 points and five rebounds. Dominic Castillo (14 points, 11 rebounds) finished with a double-double for the defending District 1 champs, while Caleb Campbell (15 points, six rebounds, two steals) and Wyatt Prohn (14 points, two steals) combined to score 29. Noah Million (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Marley Miller (16 points) led Meadowdale in the loss.

Everett 59, Shorecrest 55

SHORELINE — The Seagulls (3-1) took down the Scots (1-2) after trailing by four entering the fourth quarter. Henry Selders (12 points, 10 rebounds) scored seven in the fourth quarter while Kellen Moore led Everett with 16 points. Noah Owens nearly netted a double-double for the Seagulls with 11 points and nine assists, while Brayden Fischer led Shorecrest with 21 points.

Shorewood 62, Jackson 51

MILL CREEK — The Stormrays (4-1) outlasted the Timberwolves (0-3) on the road with four double-digit performances. Kevin Cambronero led the way with 15 points while Thomas Moles (14), Jaden Marlow (13) and Nathan Abraha (10) all scored over 10. Joey Gosline scored a game-high 18 points on six 3-pointers for Jackson.

Marysville Pilchuck 74, Cascade 54

MARYSVILLE — The Tomahawks (3-3) got to .500 as sophomore star Michael Smathers Jr. poured in 36 points for a second straight game. Kayden Boatwright and freshman Abbas Alghazali each scored 14 for Marysville Pilchuck as well. Andrew Mitchell scored 20 points for the Bruins (0-4).
