SLIDELL, La. — Former Seattle Seahawks safety Terreal Bierria was arrested Tuesday in the killing of a Louisiana man after a dispute over drugs, police said.
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain said Bierria, who played for Seattle between 2002 and 2004, has been booked with one count of first-degree murder.
Police said the victim, Soron Salter, 29, of Slidell, was found on the floor of a home with stab wounds and had been in a violent struggle. Bierria — whose gray Cadillac was seen parked at the house — went to a hospital for cuts to his hands and arms.
Bierria refused to speak with investigators about his injuries or whether he was involved in the fight.
Strain said investigators booked Bierria, 30, into the parish jail, where he is being held without bond. It was not immediately known whether he had an attorney.
Bierria, who also is from Slidell, was the 120th overall pick in the 2002 draft by the Seahawks. He played college football at Georgia.
At a news conference, Strain indicated that investigators believe the crime occurred “over a certain quantity of drugs found at the home.”
Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. George Bonnett said details about the type of drug or amount would not be released.
No other arrests were made.
The car Bierria was driving was seized and towed to a crime lab.
