SPOKANE – Lexi Belcher made two free throws with 1.9 seconds remaining as fifth-ranked Mossyrock battled back from a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat LaSalle 47-46 in the Class 2B state title game on Saturday night.
Mossyrock took its first lead of the game at 45-43 after a pair of free throws by Belcher with 2:18 remaining.
Molly McGree responded with a lay-up and later made a free throw to give LaSalle a 46-45 lead with 44.3 seconds left. The Lightning did not attempt another shot in the game.
Evergreen Lutheran 40, Waterville 34: At Spokane, Erika Laete scored 10 points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds as Evergreen Lutheran clawed its way to third place.
Laete made four of four free throws in the final 12 seconds to secure the win for the Eagles (25-3). Evergreen Lutheran trailed 29-26 going into the fourth quarter, but held Waterville to only five points in the final period.
Napavine 49, White Pass 36: At Spokane, Kristen Lantau scored 12 points to lead three players in double figures as Napavine beat White Pass to finish fourth.
Alicia Richardson and Courtney May both scored 10 for the Tigers (25-1). Napavine shot 40 percent for the game, making 22 of 50 field goals.
Napavine held White Pass (17-11) to seven second-quarter points and built a 23-15 halftime lead. White Pass climbed to within five points in the third quarter but Napavine went on a 9-4 run to close out the quarter.
Shoreline Christian 56, Toutle Lake 42: At Spokane, Julia DeKoekkoek scored 20 points, Colleen Woods added 19, and Shoreline Christian beat Toutle Lake to take fifth place.
DeKoekkoek and Woods got it going early by combining to score 17 of Shoreline Christian’s 19 first-quarter points. Shoreline Christian (24-3) took an early 19-7 lead and led 29-17 at halftime. The Crusaders led by as many as 16 points.
