Coming off of his first loss of the season, Stanwood’s Gergo Muller bounced back with a hard-fought victory over another tough opponent Thursday.
Edmonds-Woodway won the war though, winning the team competition 5-2.
Muller beat Edmonds-Woodway’s Younghan Kim 6-3 in the first set, but K
im countered in the second set and evened the match at a set apiece. In the third set, Muller dispatched Kim 6-1 to win the match and improve to 8-1 on the season as the Spartans No. 1 singles player. Muller suffered his first loss of the season Wednesday against Jackson’s Mitch Williamson.
Despite Kim’s loss, Warriors singles players Brandon Bulaclac, Louis Phan and Alvin Lieu all won to help E-W take charge in singles play.
