Murphy rolls over G. Falls

EVERETT – When the top two teams in the Cascade Conference squared off on the softball diamond, someone had to come out on top.

Archbishop Murphy walked away with the victory.

The Wildcats jumped to a 4-0 lead after two innings en route to a 7-2 victory over Granite Falls on Wednesday.

Sophomore Brittany Allen pitched a complete game to earn her third victory of the season. Allen struck out 12 and allowed two hits, both home runs.

Kaitlin Duffy and Kristin Ehlebracht were 4-for-4 with Ehlebracht driving in two runs. Allen was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The Tigers’ Stacey Todd and Jennelle Jones hit home runs.

Lake Stevens 10, Oak Harbor 2: At Lake Stevens, Morgan Harris pitched a complete game, striking out eight for the Vikings in the Wesco North game. Lake Stevens’ Vallen Brewer had two RBI and Alona Personius hit two doubles and scored three runs.

Marysville-Pilchuck 5, Cascade 4: At Marysville, Jessica Tanigawa reached base on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scored on Michelle Newman’s game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as the Tomahawks defeated the Bruins in the Wesco North game.
