The National Lacrosse League, which began with four teams in 1987, currently has 12 teams in two six-team divisions.
The Western Division includes the Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, Edmonton Rush, Minnesota Swarm, Portland Lumber Jax (expected to relocate) and the new Washington Stealth. The Eastern Division includes the Boston Blazers, Buffalo Bandits, New York Titans, Philadelphia Wings, Rochester Knighthawks and Toronto Rock.
The NLL season begins in January and continues until April. Each team plays a 16-game regular-season schedule, and four teams from each division advance to postseason playoffs in May. The league champion is decided in the Champion’s Cup.
