Newest Seahawk Moffitt is a pretty funny dude

The Seahawks drafted Wisconsin guard John Moffitt because he’s a 6-foot-4, 319 pound guard they they can improve their offensive line.

An added bonus, however, is that Seattle appears to have gotten a pretty funny guy in the process. Moffitt, who is already 24, was asked why he was so old for his class.

Sounding completely serious, Moffitt explained he spent a year in the Peace Corps, which of course perked the interest of reporters on the conference call. When asked for more details, Moffitt finally broke, admitting, “I’m kidding, I didn’t join the Peace Corps. I transfered high schools and I repeated a year of high school. I didn’t want to tell you I’m like Billy Madison. The Peace Corps thing sounds so much better, so if you guys want to print that, feel free.”

Earlier in the call, Moffitt was asked what he knew about Seattle, and he admitted not much, but did say, “I’m a big Nirvana fan, so I know grunge music.”
