LAWRENCE, Kan. — Darrell Arthur had 17 points and fourth-ranked Kansas overwhelmed Northern Arizona in the first half for an 87-46 victory Wednesday night in the Jayhawks’ 600th win in the 52-year history of Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas poured it on from the start, scoring the first 12 points and building it to a 29-4 lead with 71/2 minutes left. The Jayhawks shot 61 percent and held Northern Arizona without a double-figures scorer, getting an easy victory before facing Arizona on Sunday in what should be their first real test of the season.

The Lumberjacks didn’t score until Zarko Comagic hit a layup at 13:22 and barely cracked double figures for the half, shooting 4-for-24 to trail 44-10.

No. 5 Georgetown 57, Ball State 48: At Muncie, Ind., Roy Hibbert scored 16 points and had seven rebounds, and Georgetown made seven 3-pointers in a win over outmanned Ball State. The Cardinals (0-3) were led by Peyton Stovall with 16 points.

Ohio State 79, No. 21 Syracuse 65: At New York, freshman Kosta Koufos scored a career-high 24 points to help Ohio State beat No. 21 Syracuse 79-65 in the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals. No. 13 Duke 77, No. 11 Marquette 73: At Lahana, Hawaii, freshman forward Kyle Singler scored 25 points, including the clinching free throws with 13 seconds to play, and the 13th-ranked Blue Devils beat No. 11 Marquette to claim their fourth EA Sports Maui Invitational championship. Duke (5-0) won the title here in 1992, 1997 and 2001.

Arizona 88, Adams State 64: At Tucson, Ariz., Jordan Hill had a career-high 17 points as Arizona beat Adams State. The Wildcats (3-1) struggled with the Division II Grizzlies until they relied on Hill’s 11 points after the intermission.
