Cowboys cut Folk, sign Suisham

IRVING, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys have cut placekicker Nick Folk and replaced him with Shaun Suisham.

Suisham previously kicked for Dallas in 2005 and 2006. He was released by Washington on Dec. 8 after missing several kicks — the same problem that cost Folk his job Monday.

Folk clanged the right upright on an easy 24-yarder that would have put away Saturday night’s 24-17 victory against the unbeaten Saints. Instead, the Dallas defense had to make one more stand against one of the league’s best offenses.

Folk leads the NFL with 10 misses, going 18 of 28 and missing seven of his past 11.

Titans lose linebackers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee linebacker Keith Bulluck has a torn left anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the rest of the season while outside linebacker David Thornton will have season-ending shoulder surgery later this week. Coach Jeff Fisher announced Monday that test results show Bulluck tore his left ACL in the third quarter of their 27-24 overtime victory over Miami on Sunday. He will have surgery within two weeks. Thornton had been deactivated against Miami as the Titans (7-7) hoped he might return.

Ex-Browns GM fights firing

BEREA, Ohio — Former Cleveland Browns general manager George Kokinis has filed for arbitration against the team for firing him. Kokinis was dismissed by the Browns on Nov. 2. He filed the case with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation. Kokinis is seeking more than $4 million in compensation and damages. He asserts that the Browns fraudulently induced him to join the team under the representation that he would have control over all player personnel matters and report to owner Randy Lerner.

Stafford may start for Lions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Lions coach Jim Schwartz has not ruled out Matthew Stafford from returning Sunday against San Francisco after missing two games with a shoulder injury. If Stafford can’t play against the 49ers, Schwartz will decide between Daunte Culpepper and Drew Stanton. Culpepper was pulled at halftime of a 31-24 loss to Arizona last weekend, and Stanton led a second-half rally.

Bills may make QB change

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — With Ryan Fitzpatrick and Trent Edwards hobbling, the Bills may be forced to see what they have in third-stringer Brian Brohm. Signed to a two-year contract by Buffalo two days after former head coach Dick Jauron was fired in November, Brohm could get the call this week when Buffalo (5-9) travels to Atlanta to play the Falcons (7-7). Both Fitzpatrick and Edwards had ankle injuries in Buffalo’s 17-10 loss to New England on Sunday.

Stroughter placed on IR

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay rookie receiver Sammie Stroughter will miss the remainder of the season after breaking his right foot during the Buccaneers’ road victory over the Seattle Seahawks. The seventh-round draft pick was hurt during the second half of Sunday’s 24-7 win. He was placed on injured reserve Monday.
