Oak Harbor defense stifles Arlington in 42-13 win

OAK HARBOR – The Oak Harbor Wildcats ran wild and stuffed Arlington’s rushing offense all night, surging to a 28-0 lead before finishing off a 42-13 Western Conference North Division blowout on Friday.

Oak Harbor, which improved to 2-1 in league and 3-1 overall, ran for 280 yards and five touchdowns.

“Our offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage,” Oak Harbor coach Dave Ward said. “We controlled the clock and kept (Arlington’s) offense off the field.”

Senior fullback Blake Ward rushed for 78 yards and three TDs on 13 carries. Teammate Kyle Isaacson, a senior tailback, ran for 88 yards on 14 attempts.

Oak Harbor’s defense was just as successful stopping the run. The Eagles had just 23 yards on the ground.

Arlington’s Brenton Bodewig caught four passes for 132 yards and one touchdown.

Oak Harbor senior defensive end Patrick O’Brien had two sacks.
