Oak Harbor wins to improve to 3-0

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The Hawks managed to win one game and keep the match close, but could not overcome the 17 kills of Oak Harbor’s Jennifer Jansen, who led the undefeated Wildcats to the non-league victory, 25-22, 16-25, 25-20, 25-22.

“We should have played better,” said Mountlake Terrace coach Marietta Snyder, whose team was without two players due to injuries.

Becca Wheeler had 29 assists and two aces for the Wildcats (3-0 overall). Clair Thiel added eight kills and three aces for Oak Harbor.

Mountlake Terrace (2-2) was led by the 10 kills of Jenna Donahue. Christine Jenson had 24 assists and Anja Pendergraft added 39 digs for the Hawks.

Everett 3, Lynnwood 0: At Everett, Lauren Hope had 13 digs and three assists and Erin Vance added five kills leading Everett to the 25-20, 25-16, 26-24 sweep of Lynnwood. Ally Lund had five kills for the Seagulls (2-2 overall). Lynnwood (1-3) was led by Kaytlyn Dill (16 kills, three blocks) and Stephanie Mohoric (20 assists).

Monroe 3, Shorewood 0: At Shoreline, Kylin Munoz had 13 kills and Kelsey Brennan added 11 kills as the Bearcats (4-0) beat the Thunderbirds 25-13, 25-7, 25-12 in the non-league match. Caroline Soules had eight kills and four aces, Erin Hall had 11 assists and Katie Dapper added three blocks for Shorewood (0-3).

Jackson 3, Cascade 1: At Mill Creek, Cerise Knakal had 15 assists and Bionna Kirton served five aces and recorded eight kills to lead Jackson to the 25-15, 25-23, 16-25, 25-23 non-league victory. Angelina Rich added six kills for the Timberwolves (1-3 overall) and Christy Cain had seven kills and seven blocks. Madison Farrell had five blocks and six kills for the Bruins (0-4) and Danielle Love added seven blocks and four kills.

Edmonds-Woodway 3, Marysville-Pilchuck 2: At Edmonds, Leigh Fishback had 50 assists, Cailin Fellows added 15 kills and 15 digs and Edmonds-Woodway pulled out a five-game, 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 21-25, 15-9 non-conference win over Marysville-Pilchuck. Erin Lauber (13 kills) and Alex Storino (17 digs) helped lead the Warriors (3-1 overall). The Tomahawks (2-2) were led by Jadelyn Thompson (49 digs), Jessica Master (seven kills, four blocks) and April Bobadilla (30 assists).

Meadowdale 3, Stanwood 0: At Lynnwood, Brianna Dyson had 10 kills and nine digs to help Meadowdale to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-12 non-league victory over Stanwood (1-3 overall). Mara Eberth added 26 digs for the Mavericks (2-1) , Florence Dalos had eight kills and served three aces and Katie Cowan finished with 33 assists.

Shorecrest 3, Snohomish 0: At shoreline, Kerry Clavadetscher recorded 10 kills and 15 assists to lead Shorecrest to the 25-21, 25-19, 25-15 non-league victory. Elisabeth Hoffman added six kills and seven digs for the Scots (4-0 overall). Joana Balin had five blocks and five kills and Jessica Yates finished with 10 kills for the Panthers (2-2).

Mariner 3, Arlington 0: At Everett, Shannon Peterson’s 38 assists led Mariner to the 25-10, 25-12, 25-20 non-conference sweep of Arlington (0-4 overall). Hokana Varde (five kills), Jessica Gavoronskiy (five kills, two digs) and Ludia Gavoronskiy also led Mariner (1-2 overall).

Kamiak 3, Lake Stevens 0: At Mukilteo, the Knights swept the Vikings 25-12, 25-18, and 25-20 in the non-league contest. Melissa Fredericks had 16 digs and Devin Larson had 32 assists for Kamiak (3-1). Julia Church and Mahogany Dodd each added seven kills for the Knights. Jackie Mo was 12-for-12 serving and Breanna Toler had six kills for Lake Stevens (1-2).

Archbishop Murphy 3, Granite Falls 1: At Everett, the Wildcats won 25-17, 22-25, 25-13, 25-6 in the Cascade Conference contest. Ashley Broadwell had 18 kills, five digs and three aces for Archbishop Murphy. Rachel Shober had five kills, six blocks, 16 digs and three aces, and Patti Reeves had 25 assists and 12 aces for the Wildcats (2-1). Michaela Dudder had eight kills and three blocks for Granite Falls (2-1), and teammate Jordan Grable added seven digs.

Coupeville 3, Sultan 1: At Sultan, Julie Huddleston had 14 assists and teammate Nicki Griffin had nine kills, nine digs and six aces to lead Coupeville (1-2 league, 1-3 overall) to the 7-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18 Cascade Conference victory. Courtney Batts (nine assists) and Cassie Beucherie (seven kills) led Sultan (0-3, 0-3).

King’s 3, Lakewood 0: At Marysville, Kailey Trautmann had 13 kills and 10 digs to lead King’s to the 25-14, 25-7, 25-18 Cascade Conference victory. Erin Bremond added seven kills and three blocks for King’s (3-0 in league, 3-0 overall). Lakewood (1-2 in league, 2-2 overall) was led by Liliya Kibitskaya’s seven kills, two aces and five digs.

Cedarcrest 3, South Whidbey 0: At Duvall, Cedarcrest won 25-10, 25-22, 25-18 over South Whidbey (2-1 league and overall) in the Cascade Conference match. Kristen McKinlay had 10 kills and three blocks for Cedarcrest (2-1). Betsy Anderson had seven kills and four aces and Amber Shields added 20 assists for Cedarcrest.

Grace Academy 3, Skykomish 2: at Marysville, Ariell Eneix served an ace to win the decisive fifth game for Grace Academy (1-1 in league and overall), sealing the Eagles’ 25-18, 25-16, 14-25, 19-25, 15-13 victory over Skykomish (1-2) in the Northwest 1B League match.
