KEIZER, Ore. – The Everett AquaSox used a solid pitching performance from starter Juan Ramirez and three-hit performances from Joe Dunigan and Edilio Colina to defeat Salem-Keizer 7-3 Monday to salvage the final game of the three-game series with the Volcanoes.
Ramirez tossed six innings, giving up just two runs as he improved to 3-6. Volcanoes starter Ryan McGrath took the loss, falling to 1-5.
The AquaSox took the lead for good in the top of the fifth on a Joe Dunigan solo homer and an RBI single by Blake Ochoa. They tacked on three more in the seventh on a Dunigan RBI single, a wild pitch, and Deybis Benitez sacrifice fly.
The Volcanoes’ Sharlon Schoop homered with two out in the bottom of the ninth to give the game its final tally.
The AquaSox (30-37) return home to take on the Eugene Emeralds tonight. The Volcanoes (51-16) travel to Vancouver to face the Canadians.
