PASCO — In his first start since being promoted from Low-A Modesto, Marcelo Perez struck out seven and allowed just one run in 4.2 innings as the Everett AquaSox beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 5-2 on Wednesday night.
Perez, a 23-year-old right-hander, gave up four hits and walked three batters.
Hogan Windish and Walking Cabrera drove in two runs each, and Gabriel Gonzalez had three hits to pace the AquaSox offense. Harry Ford doubled, walked, scored two runs and threw out another runner, his 26th of the season, from behind the plate.
Peyton Alford struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save for Everett (62-54, 28-22 second half), which allowed just five hits.
Werner Blakely had a base hit and scored a run for Tri-City (52-62, 18-30).
