Playoff race update

OK, here’s a snapshot of the race for the Western Conference’s final two playoff spots as we head into the weekend:

7. Victoria, 52 GP, 39 Pts

8. Seattle, 49 GP, 38 Pts

9. Prince George, 50 GP, 34 Pts

10. Everett, 51 GP, 33 Pts

That’s right, over the course of the week the Tips slipped back into 10th. Everett didn’t have any weeknight games. Meanwhile, Victoria and Prince George played a doubleheader and Seattle had a game against Spokane.

Although Everett lost a place in the standings, quite honestly the week’s results couldn’t have gone any better for the Tips. Victoria and Prince George split their doubleheader with both games being won in regulation, so there were no loser points added to the mix. And Seattle lost its game when it looked like the T-birds might get at least a point. So though the Tips are now five points out of playoff position and have to leapfrog two teams again, some of those games in hand that other teams in the race had shook out well from Everett’s perspective.

Oh, and a reminder that Friday night’s game at Portland is being televised on ROOT, so be sure to check it out.
