Poll results: Responders expect a good week for Sounders

This week’s reader poll involved Seattle Sounders FC, with the team resuming play Wednesday night following MLS’s two-week international break.

It’s a sneaky big week for the Sounders, who have home games Wednesday against D.C. United and Sunday against the San Jose Earthquakes, with these games perhaps determining whether Seattle is playing for a conference title down the stretch or just battling for a playoff spot. So I asked readers about how they thought the Sounders would fare in their two games this week. Here’s what they said:

Add the two together and the winner was “Three or four points,” which garnered 39 percent of the tally. With another 23 percent expecting Seattle to take the full six points, that means more than 60 percent believe it will be a relatively successful week for Seattle.

One thing I found interesting was seeing the low vote total. Given The Herald’s limited ability to cover the Sounders, I would guess the people who follow our paper are not the die-hard Sounders supporters, but more the general sports fans. The low turnout suggests that among the casual fans the Sounders remain secondary to the area’s other major sports teams.
