MONROE — What looked like a pitchers’ duel through the first two innings turned into a rout as Monroe scored seven runs in the third inning and seven in the fourth to beat Mariner in a Wesco 4A contest. The game was called in the fifth inning in accordance with the 10-run rule. Bearcats slugger Alex Spahman drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double to open the scoring in the third. It was the fourth win in five games for the Bearcats.
