BOYS BASKETBALL

2A District 1 tournament (winner to state)

Lakewood 50 Lynden 49

MOUNT VERNON — Lakewood (18-6), the tournament’s No. 2 seed, handed Lynden its first loss of the season to claim the district championship and a trip to the state tournament. Lynden (23-1), will play a Saturday game for the district’s final state berth against the winner of Thursday’s Archbishop Murphy vs. Burlington-Edison matchup.

3A District 1 tournament (loser out)

Marysville Getchell 56, Ferndale 38

MARYSVILLE — The Chargers (15-8) kept their hopes of returning to the state tournament alive with a convincing win. Marysville Getchell will play second-seeded Shorecrest in a winner-to-state, loser-out tilt 4 p.m. Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck H.S.

3A District 1 tournament (winner to state)

Monroe 48, Shorecrest 44

MARYSVILLE — Monroe clinched a state playoff bid and will face Edmonds-Woodway in the district title game, 8 p.m. Saturday at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Edmonds-Woodway 67, Shorewood 37

MARYSVILLE — Led by Cam Hiatt’s 36 points, the Warrior earned a state playoff berth and a spot in the district championship game, 8 p.m. Saturday against Monroe at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lynden 52, Archbishop Murphy 36

MOUNT VERNON — Undefeated No. 1-seed Lynden (24-0) knocked off the second-seeded Wildcats (21-2) in the district title game. Archbishop Murphy can still earn a trip to state on Saturday by beating Wednesday’s Squalicum vs. Burlington-Edison winner.
