SNOHOMISH — So far through its first two games of the season, the Snohomish boys basketball team knows it can count on Luke Hamlin.
Not that there was a lot of doubt.
Hamlin scored 14 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Panthers past Woodinville 68-58 in a nonleague contest.
The senior guard also had six assists, five rebounds and four steals three days after dropping 31 points in a win over Mount Vernon.
“Luke’s scoring in the fourth quarter was big,” Snohomish head coach Len Bone said. “Out of his six baskets (in the quarter), maybe three of them came on assists. I was happy with how we played together on both ends.”
After a fast-paced first quarter in which the Falcons took a 23-21 lead thanks in large part to making four 3-point baskets, the tempo slowed in the second as Snohomish cut the lead to one, 35-34, entering halftime.
The Panthers took control of the game in the third quarter and held a 47-43 lead entering the fourth when Hamlin took over.
“The first quarter wasn’t too good but most of that was Woodinville,” Bone said. “We were a little better defensively (from then on).”
Woodinville played just six players thanks to their roster being somewhat depleted thanks to its football team making a deep run into the 4A state tournament. Jake Miller led the Falcons with 19 points, Matt Laitala delivered 15 and Robbie Jackson chipped in 13.
Snohomish outrebounded Woodinville 27-22 for the game with Russell Crippen led the Panthers with six. The Panthers also had six different players hit 3-pointers over the course of the game.
Kevin Yates finished with 13 points as the second-leading scorer for Snohomish.
