Prep hot tickets: State cross-country meet Saturday in Pasco

This week also features district competition in girls soccer, volleyball and girls swimming.

Non-football prep events to keep an eye on this week as postseason action ramps up:

Girls soccer: 3A Northwest District semifinals, 6 p.m. at Shoreline Stadium. Third-seeded Snohomish faces second-seeded Squalicum at 6 p.m. Tuesday, followed by top-seeded Edmonds-Woodway against fifth-seeded Shorewood at 8 p.m. The winners clinch state berths and advance to Saturday’s district championship match.

Girls soccer: Jackson vs. Redmond, 7 p.m. Tuesday at Everett Memorial Stadium. The winner of this Class 4A Northwest/Sea-King Bi-District semifinal clinches a state berth and advances to face either Issaquah or Lake Stevens in Thursday’s bi-district title match. Jackson (15-0-1) is coming off its fifth consecutive Wesco 4A title. Redmond (8-2-4) finished in a tie for second place in KingCo 4A.

Cross country: State championships, 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco. Local contenders for individual state titles include Naomi Smith of King’s, Lake Stevens’ Taylor Roe, Edmonds-Woodway’s Deyago Peraza and Granite Falls’ Isaac Cortes. The Glacier Peak girls, Arlington boys and Edmonds-Woodway boys figure to be in the mix for team titles.

Girls swimming: 4A and 3A Northwest District championships, 10 a.m. Saturday at Snohomish Aquatic Center. Local swimmers and divers square off for district supremacy ahead of next week’s state meet. The 4A district finals begin at 10 a.m. and the 3A district finals start at 4 p.m.

Volleyball: 4A Northwest/Sea-King Bi-District Tournament, 1 p.m. Saturday at various sites. The 12-team double-elimination tournament consisting of Wesco and KingCo schools begins with first-round matches at 1 p.m., followed by quarterfinal matches at 3 p.m.
