Four of the many postseason events to watch this week, weather permitting:
Boys and girls basketball: 4A Wes-King Bi-District tournaments, various sites. Under the new tournament format, which was adopted because of inclement weather, Thursday’s quarterfinal winners clinch trips to the state regionals. The final state regional berths are scheduled to be determined in next Monday’s fifth-place games.
Boys and girls basketball: 3A Northwest District tournaments, various sites. The winners of Friday’s semifinals secure state regional berths. The semifinal losers need to win a loser-out game Saturday to advance to the regionals.
Boys and girls wrestling: Mat Classic XXXI, Friday-Saturday at Tacoma Dome. With Saturday’s regional tournaments canceled statewide because of inclement weather, this year’s state tournaments have been expanded from the traditional 16-person brackets to a 32-person format. The title matches are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Boys swim and dive: State championships, Friday-Saturday at King County Aquatic Center (Federal Way). The state championships begin with Friday’s prelims and continue with Saturday’s finals. The Class 2A/1A finals begin at 9:15 a.m., followed by the 3A finals at 2:10 p.m. and the 4A finals at 7 p.m.
