EVERETT — Yanina Sherwood struck out nine in a five-inning shutout and seven of Jackson’s 11 hits went for extra bases as the Timberwolves mauled Roosevelt.

Rachel Sysum hit two solo home runs, Simone Williams drove in three runs with two doubles, Kalia Zellmer drove in two runs with two doubles and catcher Hailey Pelletier went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Timberwolves (1-0). Sherwood allowed just five hits.

Roosevelt fell to 0-1.

Lake Stevens 13, Mount Vernon 0 (5 innings)

LAKE STEVENS — Kyleigh Lynn tossed a five-hit shutout and Alexa Bradley hit two home runs as Lake Stevens blasted Mount Vernon.

Lynn added two hits at the plate and McKenna Richer doubled for the Vikings (1-0).

Leslie Escamila doubled for Mount Vernon (0-1).

Stanwood 7, Anacortes 1 (3 innings, ppd.)

ANACORTES — Stanwood delivered a seven-run outburst over the first two innings against Anacortes, but the game was postponed in the bottom of the third inning.

Scarlett McEwen hit a two-run double and Paige Almanza had an RBI double before the game was postponed.
