LYNNWOOD — Nyree Johnson struck out seven batters in a five-inning complete game in the Royals’ season-opening win over the Islanders.

Johnson went 4-for-4 and hit two doubles for Lynnwood (1-0). Ashara Taylor also hit two doubles, and Briar Knoth hit a double.

The Royals led 8-1 after the first two innings. Lynnwood gave up five runs in the third inning but scored 10 runs to enter the fourth inning with an 18-6 lead. The Royals went on to gather two runs in the fourth, and Mercer Island scored two in the fifth.

Annabel Little hit a home run, and Joey Lurie hit a double for Mercer Island (0-4).

Kamiak 6, Woodinville 1

MUKILTEO — Synclair Mawudeku, Delaney Ortega, Aliya Boonsripisal, Scarlette Chapman, Aliana Boulger and Kylie McClure all scored runs to lead the Knights over the Falcons in the season opener for both teams.

Mawudeku pitched five innings, struck out 10 batters and gave up one run for Kamiak (1-0). McClure recorded three hits, including two triples, and two RBI.

Lucy Ford scored the lone run for Woodinville (0-1). Taylor Clear pitched four innings, struck out two batters and gave up four runs.

Jackson 14, Inglemoor 2 (5)

KENMORE — Rachel Sysum and Allie Thomsen each scored three runs to help lead the Timberwolves past Inglemoor in Jackson’s season opener.

Yanina Sherwood hit two home runs, drove in three runs and scored two runs, and Hailey Pelletier recorded one run and four RBI for Jackson (1-0). Thomsen homered twice, Sysum hit a home run, Allie Thomsen homered and Emery Tulio added another as the Timberwolves slugged seven as a team.

Sherwood pitched five innings, struck out 12 batters and gave up two runs, including one home run.

Alexa Saladin and Gracie Toney each scored a run for Inglemoor (0-2). Jillian Starosky pitched five innings and gave up seven home runs.

Shorewood 11, Nathan Hale 1 (6)

SHORELINE — Ellie Van Horn struck out 11 batters in the Stormrays’ win over the Raiders.

Lillian Perreault went 3-for-5, Lily Doll 1-2 and Maddie Schilperoort 1-2 for Shorewood (2-0).

The Stormrays scored nine runs in the first and second innings combined.

Ainslie Smith went 2-3 and Ava Perry 1-2 for Nathan Hale (2-2).

Stanwood 3, Sedro-Woolley 1

STANWOOD — Eliot McDonald completed her first win on the mound pitching five innings and giving up only one run in the Spartans’ season-opening win over the Cubs.

Rubi Lopez carried Stanwood (1-0) on offense scoring all three runs and recording three hits and three stolen bases.

Sedro-Woolley begins its season (0-1).
