OAK HARBOR — The Cougars used a three-run fifth inning to pull away and held on for a league victory over the Wildcats.

Emma Joy Wise had three hits, a home run and two RBI, Katie Krueger had three hits, two RBI and three stolen bases and Mary Jo Morales had two hits for Lakewood (6-8 overall, 6-5 Northwest Conference), which allowed the tying run to reach third in the seventh but received a big defensive play from right fielder Alexi Looper to end it. Krueger pitched a complete game and allowed one earned run, striking out seven.

Oak Harbor fell to 8-8 overall and 6-5 in league play.
