GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wesco 4A

Glacier Peak 82, Kamiak 68

SNOHOMISH — Entering the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies led by just five points. The scoring came consistently every quarter, with a 20-point first followed by 21 in each of the following two, but the Knights kept close behind. With a crucial league win on the line, either side would need someone to step up and close out the game.

That’s when Glacier Peak senior Sammie Thoma (28 points) took command, scoring all but one of her team’s field goals in the fourth quarter to add nine points, which nearly matched Kamiak’s entire team output (11). Supplemented by stellar free throw shooting down the stretch (9-for-10 in the fourth quarter), the Grizzlies (7-5 overall, 3-1 league) scored another 20 points and cruised to a double-digit win. Senior Brynna Pukis (19 points) and freshman Lily Riechelson (13 points) chipped in for Glacier Peak, while junior Zia-Daye Anderson hit seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 29 points for the Knights (5-7, 2-3).

Arlington 42, Jackson 35

ARLINGTON — A hot-shooting first half behind the arc from senior Kailee Anderson (17 points) propelled the Eagles (3-8 overall, 3-1 league) to victory, ending a four-game skid. Anderson hit each of her first five attempted 3-pointers, finishing 5-for-8 on the night and leading Arlington to a 28-12 lead by halftime. The Timberwolves (5-6, 2-2) brought it closer in the second half, thanks in part to sophomores Makena Devine and Avery Cooke (8 points each), but the Eagles had built too big a cushion and held off the comeback effort.

Lake Stevens 70, Mariner 20

EVERETT — The Vikings (7-4 overall, 4-0 league) powered past the Marauders (2-8, 1-4) to remain undefeated in league play. Sophomore Noelani Tupua (16 points) and senior Griffyn Eyman (15 points) led the scoring. Individual stats were not reported for Mariner.

Wesco 3A/2A South

Shorecrest 62, Edmonds-Woodway 41

EDMONDS — Senior Cassie Chestnut scored a game-high 21 points to drive the Scots (6-5 overall, 3-2 league) to victory. The Warriors (8-3, 1-3) were led by junior Finley Wichers (15 points, 11 rebounds), who dropped a double-double in the loss, and sophomore Madeline Skaar (4 points) brought in 11 rebounds.

Shorewood 67, Mountlake Terrace 53

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The Stormrays (5-8 overall, 3-2 league) outscored the Hawks (6-6, 2-3) in the fourth quarter 27-12 to secure the win after finishing the third trailing by one. Senior Bridget Cox scored 21 of her game-high 27 points in the second half to lead the way for Shorewood along with senior Rylie Gettmann (16 points). Freshman Makenna Davidson (14 points) and junior Jordan Wagner (13 points) led the scoring for Mountlake Terrace.
