Prep softball: Glacier Peak 5, Ferndale 4 (10)

EVERETT — Nina Kim hit the game-winning RBI double in the top of the 10th inning — after Glacier Peak scored two in the top of the seventh after a controversial call kept the game going — to defeat Ferndale in the first round of the 3A District tournament.

With the bases loaded and two outs, a Glacier Peak player hit a ground ball to the Ferndale shortstop, who threw to first base. The field umpire called the Grizzly runner out, but, after a conference with the home plate umpire, the runner was ruled safe and a run scored. Glacier Peak added one more before the end of the inning to tie the game up at 4-4.

Abby Doney hit a solo home run for Glacier Peak in the game.
