Prep softball: Lakewood sweeps Archbishop Murphy in doubleheader

EVERETT — Kiana Smith went 6-for-10 in a doubleheader for Lakewood, hitting the game-winning RBI single in the first game and a double in the Cougars’ second contest of the day as Lakewood swept Archbishop Murphy in a Cascade Conference doubleheader. Smith’s single in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Lakewood the 2-1 victory in the first game, negating a strong outing by Archbishop Murphy pitcher Baylee Robertson, who struck out 11 batters.

In the second game, Lakewood scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away from the Wildcats 9-4. Smith again went 3-for-5 with a double and Terah Barrio (3-for-3) drove in two runs. Every Cougars’ batter in the lineup got at least one hit in the game.

Nicole Manuel went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Makenzie Treece (2-for-4) had two RBI for Archbishop Murphy in the second game.
