PREP STARS OF THE NIGHT FOR FRIDAY, JAN. 10:

Defense, Glacier Peak boys basketball team

The Grizzlies held Jackson to just 27 points in a dominant performance to extend its perfect record to 11-0 overall and 5-0 in league play, beating the Timberwolves 60-27.

Kiley Hubby, Lake Stevens girls wrestling

Hubby, a senior, pinned her first two opponents in the first period to reach the quarterfinals of the Kelso Invite on Friday in the 170-pound weight class.

Autumn Ortega, Stanwood girls wrestling

Ortega, a junior, pinned her first two opponents to reach the quarterfinals of the Kelso Invite on Friday in the 170-pound weight class. Ortega would meet Hubby in Saturday’s semifinal if they both win their quarterfinal bouts.

Chanel Siva, Stanwood girls wrestling

Siva, a senior, pinned her first two opponents to reach the quarterfinals of the Kelso Invite on Friday in the 235-pound weight class. Saturday’s final could see a rematch of last season’s state championship bout, where Siva beat Thomas Jefferson’s Goddess Ma’alona-Faletogo 4-1.

Anna Schander, Stanwood girls wrestling

Schander pinned each of her first two opponents in the first round to reach the quarterfinals of the Kelso Invite Friday in the 235-pound weight class. Schander would face her teammate, Siva, in the semifinals if each wins her quarterfinal bout on Saturday.

Jake Cleary, Stanwood boys basketball

Cleary, a junior guard, scored a game-high 18 points to help the Spartans hold off a fourth-quarter rally to defeat Mountlake Terrace 53-51 on the road in a Wesco 3A/2A showdown.

Ethan Martin, Arlington boys basketball

Martin, a sophomore guard, scored 10 of his game-high 23 points in the second quarter as the Eagles beat Shorewood 78-63 in a Wesco 3A/2A game.

Alex Jensen, Lakewood boys basketball

Jensen, a senior guard, became the Cougars’ all-time leading scorer, as a 31-point effort in an 88-72 win over Mount Baker gave him 1,115 for his career. He also added six assists, six rebounds and four steals, all without committing a turnover. He is also Lakewood’s all-time leader in steals with 180.
