Here are Saturday’s prep stars of the night:
Naomi Smith, King’s girls cross country
Smith, a junior, finished first out of 215 participants with a three-mile time of 18:10.6 in the 3A-4A portion of the Nike Twilight XC Invitational at Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville. Smith runs for a 1A program.
Isaac Cortes, Granite Falls boys cross country
Cortes, a junior, finished third out of 192 participants with a three-mile time of 16:44.4 in the 1B-2A portion of the Nike Twilight XC Invitational at Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville.
Lucas Lacambra, Edmonds-Woodway boys cross country
Lacambra, a senior, finished fourth out of 208 participants with a three-mile time of 15:40.2 in the 3A-4A portion of the Nike Twilight XC Invitational.
Elli Straume, Kamiak girls swimming
Straume, a junior, won the 500-yard freestyle, 100 backstroke and was part of the Knights’ first-place 400 freestyle relay team at the Mukilteo Invitational at Kamiak High School. Straume set a meet record in the 500 freestyle and notched Class 4A state qualifying times in all four events she participated in.
Madelynn Butler, Lake Stevens girls swimming
Butler, a freshman, finished second in the 50 freestyle at the Mukilteo Invitational with a 4A state qualifying time of 24.71 seconds.
