Prep volleyball: Lynnwood 3, Mountlake Terrace 1

LYNNWOOD — Arianna Garcia’s 13 kills and 17 digs along with Jennifer Tsuji’s 37 assists helped Lynnwood beat Mountlake Terrace 3-1 in a Wesco 3A volleyball match Tuesday. With the win Lynnwood clinched a place in the District 1 playoffs. The set scores were: 25-23, 25-20, 20-25, 25-20.

It was Senior Night at Lynnwood and Royals head coach Jean Kellog describe her seniors’ last home appearance:

“It was very competitive the whole time … both teams were hitting well. The defense had a lot of saves, a lot of defensive digs and both teams were blocking.”

Lynnwood has one more league match today against Shorewood, in which there will be some family rivalry, with coach Kellog’s daughter playing on the Shorewood team.

Other strong performances for Lynnwood came from Arianna Garcia (13 kills, 17 digs) and Kaitlin Evers (17 blocks). For Terrace Justine Kelly had 26 assists, Leah Lechtenberg had 13 kills and four aces and Soleil Boileau had 28 digs and three kills.

The Royals improved to 7-4 league, 8-4 overall, while Terrace fell to 5-6, 6-7.
