Suspended left wing Jordan Mistelbacher has been welcomed back into the fold. The physical 18-year-old was sent home more than three weeks ago, along with defenseman Tyler Kieffer, for violating team rules (Kieffer was since traded to Medicine Hat for defenseman Shayne Brown). But Everett general manager Doug Soetaert confirmed Mistelbacher has rejoined the team.
More after practice.
—- UPDATE 4:15 p.m.
Just got back from today’s team-building dodgeball session at Everett Skate Deck, and yes indeed Jordan Mistelbacher was there, so his reinstatement is complete.
Mistelbacher followed the lead of the organization and declined to comment on the details of the rules violation. Unsurprisingly, all parties seem eager to put this episode in the past and move forward.
During his suspension Mistelbacher didn’t see any game action. His time at camp with the NHL’s Minnesota Wild was cut short when he didn’t receive medical clearance to participate, owing to a past concussion suffered. Otherwise, his ice time has been limited to practicing with his junior A team, the Winnipeg Saints. However, the Tips will see where he’s at tomorrow, and if he shows he’s ready he’ll be in the lineup this weekend.
Elsewhere, there was nothing new regarding NHL campers Kyle Beach and Taylor Ellington, and the team isn’t expecting either to be returned in time for this weekend’s games. Since neither is signed, there’s an Oct. 5 deadline before NHL teams have to make some kind of decision, and the Tips expect both players to be held as long as possible.
Should both return, as expected, and with the return of Mistelbacher, Everett would have quite the crowd on its roster with 15 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders. It’ll be interesting to see how that situation plays itself out.
