A few notes for the week:
– Defenseman Shayne Brown remains out indefinitely because of his hip-flexor injury. The Tips still don’t have any timetable for his return, but they don’t expect him back before the Christmas break.
– New defenseman Trevor Bauer, brought in in part to cover Brown’s injury, isn’t likely to suit up for Everett for at least another week. Bauer arrived with a bit of a shoulder injury and the Tips don’t want to rush him into the lineup.
– Left wing Kyle Beach will only miss one game because of the Canada-Russia Challenge. Beach is playing for Team WHL on Wednesday in Swift Current and Thursday in Prince Albert, and he should be back in time for Friday’s home game against Portland. Busy week for Beach with games on four straight nights plus extended travel. If everything goes as planned he’ll be in the lineup both Friday and Saturday against Kootenay, but just how much time he’ll see in those two games remains to be determined.
– It looks like Tayler Jordan will again be out of Portland’s lineup against the Tips on Friday. Jordan sat out last Friday’s 5-2 Everett victory because of a one-game suspension incurred from a cross-checking major at the end of last Wednesday’s 7-1 game at Everett, and now he’s been slapped with a two-game suspension for his gross misconduct penalty during Saturday’s game at Seattle.
