Grays Harbor Raceway: At Elma, Jayme Barnes of Everett, Blair Shoemaker of Yakima, Jack Parshall Jr. of Hoquiam, Samantha Taylor of Bonny Lake, the team of Doug Hiles and Donna Gregoroff of Elma and Brian Izzi of Olympia all took the checkered flag on the opening night of the 2008 racing season at Grays Harbor Raceway.

Barnes passed the two front runners, Mitch Olson of Tacoma and Henry VanDam of Enumclaw, on lap 16 of the 25-lap 360 sprint division main then held on for the win.

In the Ship Wreck Beads modified division main Shoemaker, the 2006 track champion, took over the lead when Jeff Foster and Craig Moore tangled in lap 12 of the feature main, which was shortened to 18 laps when Graham Cook and Greg Dineen wrecked in turn 4 with two laps to go and officials decided to call the race.

It took seven laps for Parshall Jr. to move from the sixth spot on the starting grid to pass Scott Westley of Centralia for the lead in the Cut Rate auto Parts Hobby Stocks 20-lap main event.

Taylor made a pass on race leader Jeff Bell of Marysville on lap 11 of the Ford Focus Midgets main, which was shortened to 15 laps due to time.

Hiles and Gregoroff made it hat trick on the evening when they took the checkered flag in the 15-lap cruisers feature event. They also took the checkered flag in their heat race and the trophy dash earlier in the night.

Izzi also completed the hat trick on the night when he led from the green flag to the checkered in the HiLine Homes inaugural race for the hornet division at Gray Harbor Raceway. Like Hiles and Gregoroff, Izzi also took the checkered flag in his heat race and the trophy dash.
