SEATTLE — KCPQ-13 Seattle is reporting former Detroit Lions head coach Rod Marinelli is expected to meet with the Seattle Seahawks, according to sources.
Marinelli was recently fired after three seasons as head coach of the Detroit Lions, after his team became the first in NFL history to finish a season 0-16.
The NFL Network reported Sunday morning that Marinelli could be considered as the Seahawks defensive coordinator.
The 59-year-old Marinelli spent ten seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was the Bucs’ defensive line coach from 1996-2001 and took over assistant coaching duties from 2002-2005.
Seahawks president Tim Ruskell and player personnel vice president Ruston Webster were in Tampa Bay during Marinelli’s time in Tampa Bay.
The Detroit Free Press reported that Marinelli visited the Chicago Bears on Friday and could join their staff.
