DENVER — Olympic bronze medalist Joannie Rochette is coming to the United States, joining the “Stars on Ice” tour for its first four shows.
The tour opens April 1 in Fort Myers, Fla., and the Canadian also will skate in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa. The announcement Tuesday comes a day after Rochette withdrew from next week’s world championships, citing the toll the last month has taken on her.
Four days before she won her medal, her mother died of a heart attack. Rochette became an emotional focal point of the Vancouver Olympics, and she carried Canada’s flag at the closing ceremony.
Stars on Ice, an ensemble show sponsored by Smucker’s, is headlined this season by Olympic men’s champion Evan Lysacek.
