KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. — Andy Roddick has rallied to beat Rafael Nadal in their semifinal at the Sony Ericsson Open, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Roddick pressured Nadal with charges to the net Friday, even coming in behind his serve. Roddick won 12 points at the net in the final set, finished with 15 aces and lost serve only once.
The match turned when Roddick won the last 11 points of the second set, including a 143 mph service winner on the final point.
The sixth-seeded Roddick advanced to the Key Biscayne final for the first time since winning the title in 2004. His opponent Sunday will be the winner of Friday night’s match between Robin Soderling (Soh’-der-ling) and Tomas Berdych (Toe’-mas Ber’-ditch).
Roddick improved to 25-4 this year.
