Scots top Terrace, remain in second place

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – With one smashing swing of the bat, Shorecrest’s Alanna Schade broke two ties.

The Scots’ freshman third baseman broke open a 1-1 tie with a bases-clearing double off the center-field wall in the fifth inning to boost Shorecrest over Mountlake Terrace 4-1. With the win, Shorecrest (9-3 league and overall) also ruptured a three-way tie for second place in the Wesco South, knocking Mountlake Terrace (8-4, 8-6) off the pedestal while keeping pace with Kamiak (9-3, 10-4).

“Every game we play in this league is a big game,” said Mountlake Terrace coach Kim Stewart. “This is a good league. You can’t get too high on a win or get too low on a loss.”

Shorecrest will have the opportunity to move into first place with two wins this week. The Scots will play Meadowdale on Wednesday before facing first-place Jackson (10-2, 11-3) on Friday.

“We’re definitely looking forward to Jackson,” Oglesby said, “but we have to take care of Meadowdale first.”
