A day after news broke of a stunning trade that sends receiver Percy Harvin from the Seahawks to the New York Jets, the two teams finalized the deal Saturday morning.
“Although this was an extremely difficult decision, we are constantly evaluating our team and believe at this time, that this is in our best interest to move the team forward,” Seahawks general manager John Schneider said in a statement. “We thank Percy for his efforts that contributed to a Super Bowl XLVIII victory and wish him well.”
As outlined in the story linked above and many other media reports, Harvin had become a problem for the Seahawks, from altercations with teammates to deciding not to play in key possessions down the stretch in last week’s loss to Dallas.
And if you want to know how eager the Seahawks were to get rid of Harvin, consider what they got in return for one of the NFL’s most talented players:
The #Seahawks received a conditional 6th round pick in 2015 that can become a 4th rounder in exchange for new #Jets WR Percy Harvin.
