Thursday’s injury report is out, and a couple of things stand out. Jeremy Lane, who returned last week after missing eight weeks on short-term injured reserve with a groin injury, did not practice because of a groin injury Thursday, perhaps troubling news for the cornerback. Lane was listed as limited participation Wednesday, and oftentimes, though not always, when a player is limited one day and not practicing the next, that indicates that an injury occurred on the day he was listed as limited. Lane’s backup at the nickel cornerback spot, Marcus Burley, also sat out a second straight practice with a hamstring injury, so that position could be an issue for Seattle this week.
Another thing to keep an eye on is that Marshawn Lynch, who sat out yesterday with a calf injury—he was also listed with a calf injury last week and still managed to rush for 140 yards and four touchdowns—is now listed as having calf and rib injuries. As always, an update from Pete Carroll will have to wait until Friday.
The good news for Seattle is that Malcolm Smith and Cooper Helfet both practiced fully after being limited a day earlier, and Luke Willson was limited a day after not practicing.
