This is the first part of an eight-part series examining each position in the NFL draft and what the Seattle Seahawks’ needs are at that position. The players listed are the top prospects in the draft at that position, with their college, height and weight:

Seahawks’ situation: Obviously the Seahawks aren’t in need of a starting quarterback, with Russell Wilson coming off a historic season and locked up through 2019. However, the only other quarterback currently under contract for 2016 is Phillip Sims, an undrafted player who has never been on a roster for an NFL game. Seattle seems to have interest in re-signing Tavaris Jackson to serve as the backup. However, Jackson turns 33 Thursday. He may believe he needs to look elsewhere if he’s ever going to get another shot at playing regularly in the NFL, and the Seahawks may believe it’s time to begin grooming a younger second option. Seattle won’t be using a premium pick on the position, but it’s possible the Seahawks will look for a quarterback with one of their later selections.
