RENTON — The Seattle Seahawks dodged a bullet Wednesday when wide receiver Jordan Kent cleared waivers and was added to the team’s practice squad.
The news for the Seahawks wasn’t as good on Thursday, when rookie running back Justin Forsett was claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts. The move was posted on NFL.com’s transactions page Thursday morning.
Kent and Forsett were released earlier this week to make room for suspended players Rocky Bernard and Jordan Babineaux after reinstatement. The Seahawks had hoped to bring Kent and Forsett back as practice-squad players, but only Kent returned.
Both players had impressive preseasons and have the potential to become NFL playmakers. But coach Mike Holmgren said Wednesday that the preseason performances weren’t enough to keep them on the active roster.
“The only thing I’d say there,” Holmgren said, “is that the preseason is the preseason. It’s different.”
