NFL Free agency just got going this afternoon, and Seattle’s first big move was to keep on of its own key players, defensive end Red Bryant. Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network first reported that Bryant is staying in Seattle and ESPN’s Adam Schefter is saying the deal is worth $35 million over five years, including $14.5 million in guaranteed money.
Bryant, 27, has blossomed into a standout run-stuffing defensive end over the past two seasons after spending his first two years as a little-used backup defensive tackle. Bryant has said on several occasions that he initially thought the move to end under Pete Carroll was the first step towards him being cut. Instead it led to a career revival, and now a big pay day. With Bryant signed and Marshawn Lynch already re-signed, the Seahawks have been able to retain their two most important free agents.
The Seahawks also agreed to a deal with backup linebacker and special teams standout Heath Farwell, according to his agent. Farwell, who signed with Seattle last season, quickly became on of the team’s best special teams players.

The Seahawks confirmed they have agreed to deals with both Bryant and Farwell.
