On Friday, Pete Carroll said that cornerback Jeremy Lane, who aggravated a groin injury in Seattle’s season-opening victory, would be “down for a little while.” It turns out that will be at least until midseason, because the Seahawks have placed Lane on injured reserve/designated to return, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That means Lane can play again, but he is not eligible to return to practice for six weeks, and to game action for eight.

We’ll hear from Pete Carroll later this afternoon, so hopefully there’s more on their cornerback situation soon. But with Lane out, and with Tharold Simon recovering from a minor knee procedure that will keep him out for at least four weeks, according to Carroll, it’s almost certain the Seahawks will be looking to add help at cornerback.
One possibility is Keith Lewis, an undrafted rookie out of Virginia-Lynchburg, who spent camp with Tampa Bay before being release. Per Lewis’ agent, he is in Seattle this week for a tryout.
