Seahawks vs. Saints lineup notes: Bennett to have surgery

Here are the inactives for Sunday’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints at the Superdome:

SEATTLE (4-1-1)

Inactive: CB DeAndre Elliott, SS Kam Chancellor, RB Thomas Rawls, LB Kevin Pierre-Louis, DE Michael Bennett, T Bradley Sowell, TE Luke Willson.

Notes: First, there’s this:

So the Seahawks suffer a temporary blow with the loss of Bennett for a few weeks. But at least the star defensive end isn’t expected to be out long.

As for the rest of Sunday’s inactives, everyone is out injured. Sowell (knee) was the only one who was given a chance to play this week, but it was determined he hadn’t recovered from his sprained MCL quite quickly enough to play a week after suffering the injury. Therefore, it means a likely start at left tackle for undrafted rookie George Fant. Chancellor (groin) misses his third straight game, meaning another start for Kelcie McCray at strong safety. Pierre-Louis (ankle) misses his second straight game, Elliott (hamstring) misses his first, while Rawls (fibula) and Willson (knee) are longer-term absentees.

NEW ORLEANS (2-4)

Inactive: CB Delvin Breaux, LB Stephone Anthony, G/T Khalif Barnes, CB Sterling Moore, WR Jake Lampman, G Landon Turner, RB Marcus Murphy.

Notes: The Saints are down a pair of starters on defense in Breaux (fibula) and Anthony (hamstring), and Moore (abdomen) had also already been ruled out. However, New Orleans gets starting linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (quadriceps) back for the first time this season. Two starters on the offensive line, tackle Terron Armstead (knee) and guard Andrus Peat (groin), were listed as questionable, but both are active.
