The Seattle Boat Show, which opens Friday and runs through Feb. 3, has added an additional venue this year. For the first time in the show’s 71-year history, there will be three locations — indoors at the CenturyLink Field Event Center, afloat at south Lake Union and, the new venue, Bell Harbor Marina.
Bell Harbor, on the waterfront at Pier 66, right below the Pike Place Market, offers free parking all nine days of the show with purchase of an e-ticket. There also will be free parking on weekends at the south Lake Union site.
A free shuttle will run continuously between all three locations.
The additional venue provides room for a record number of boats — more than 1,000 recreational vessels — and more than 400 exhibitors. For full information on the show, or to purchase e-tickets, visit www.seattleboatshow.com.
Salmon anglers will want to take a look at the $65,000 grand prize for this year’s Northwest Salmon Derby Series, a KingFisher 2025 Falcon. It’s powered with a Honda 150 and a 9.9 trolling motor, comes with an EZ-Loader galvanized trailer, and is fully equipped with Scotty downriggers, Raymarine electronics, WhoDat tower and a Dual Electronics stereo.
One of the most popular features at the show, year in and year out, is the extensive lineup of free boating and fishing seminars and the advanced training classes, for a fee, through Boat Show University. The show offers more than 200 seminars this year, on everything from sailing around the world to transiting the Ballard Locks.
On the fishing stage there will be 55 free seminars, including some new faces and new topics. Here is the lineup:
