Seedings revealed for state soccer, small-school volleyball tourneys

Six local girls soccer teams and two volleyball teams found out who they play this week.

Six local prep girls soccer teams and two volleyball squads found out their state tournament seedings on Sunday.

The rankings for all five girls soccer tourneys and three volleyball tournaments that start this week were announced by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.

Top-seeded Class 2A squad Archbishop Murphy is the only local girls soccer squad to host its first game.

In volleyball, the 1A, 2B and 1A tournament seedings were announced. Tournaments for 4A, 3A and 2A squads are next week and will be announced this coming Sunday. All volleyball state tournament matches are played at Yakima Valley SunDome.

Below is a look at matchups involving local teams:

GIRLS SOCCER

4A

First round

No. 9 Jackson vs. No. 8 West Valley (Yakima)

No. 12 Glacier Peak at No. 5 Gonzaga Prep, Wednesday, 5 p.m.

3A

First round

No. 19 Shorecrest vs. No. 14 Kelso at Schroeder Field (Kelso), Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.

Second round

No. 10 Lakes vs. No. 7 Shorewood, Friday

No. 9 Snohomish vs. No. 8 Roosevelt, Friday

2A

First round

No. 16 Sammamish at No. 1 Archbishop Murphy, Tuesday, 6 p.m.

VOLLEYBALL

1B

First round

No. 17 Evergreen Lutheran vs. No. 16 Darrington, Thursday, 8 a.m.

Second round

No. 11 Grace Academy vs. No. 6 Wilbur-Creston-Keller, Thursday, 11:45 a.m.

Note: The 3A girls soccer and 1B volleyball tournaments are 20 teams. The bottom eight seeds play first round games and the top 12 get a bye into the second round. Times, dates and locations are listed as available.
