After a disappointing 1-10 start to the 2011 WNBA season, Tulsa Shock coach Nolan Richardson resigned on Saturday.
Richardson had been the Shock coach for all of this season and much of 2010, but had just a 7-38 record at the helm.
“While I am saddened to leave the Tulsa Shock at this time and in this manner, I am also very disappointed in the way we have started the year, and as coach, I accept my share of the responsibility,” Richardson said in a press release.
Richardson was replaced by Teresa Edwards on an interim basis.
“I appreciate the opportunity I have been given to coach the Shock on an interim basis. We have work to do and we are going to start right now,” Edwards said.
