Shorecrest holds off Everett despite Hornyak’s heroics

SHORELINE – The Everett girls basketball team showed heart – but Shorecrest rode the backs of two 20-point scorers to take the Western Conference South Division game 66-52 Wednesday night.

Shorecrest’s Mary Tseng scored 21 points and Jocelyn Riordan had 20 for the Scots.

With her team behind 41-13 at halftime, Everett’s Erika Hornyak came out firing by scoring 17 of her 27 points, including three 3-pointers, in the third quarter to give her team a fighting chance.

“She got hot for them and Everett fought back hard,” Shorecrest coach Jon Rasmussen said of the second half. “They got it going and we fouled way to much and couldn’t get it going again like the first half.”
