Silvertips announce opening games, preseason schedule

Everett plays four warm-up games before opening the 2023-24 regular season with two matchups at home.

EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips are beginning the 2023-24 WHL season at home.

The WHL announced its opening-weekend and preseason schedules Monday, and the Tips play twice on the opening weekend, with both games happening at Angel of the Winds Arena.

Everett opens the season on Saturday, Sept. 23 against the Victoria Royals at 6:05 p.m., then hosts the Spokane Chiefs at 4:05 p.m. the next day.

The Tips also announced their preseason schedule. Everett will play four warm-up games, the first three being during Everett Silvertips Preseason Classic on Sept. 8-10 at Angel of the Winds, when the Tips host Tri-City, Seattle and Wenatchee at 6 p.m. on consecutive nights. Everett also plays a preseason game at Seattle on Sept. 13.

Everett finished 33-32-2-1 and in fourth place in the U.S. Division last season before being eliminated by Portland in the first round of the playoffs. The U.S. Division added a sixth team for the 2023-24 season as the Winnipeg Ice relocated to Washington State to become the Wenatchee Wild.
