PORTLAND — The Portland Winterhawks delivered a six-goal onslaught in the first two periods and handed the Everett Silvertips a 7-1 loss Sunday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Seven different Winterhawks (9-10-3-1, 22 points) scored with a trio of the goals coming on the power play.
Tyson Kozak started a string of three goals in less than two minutes when he put one in at the 14:50 mark of the first on the man advantage. Aidan Litke added on at the 16:03 mark and Luca Cagnoni scored just 35 seconds later.
James Stefan, Cross Hanas and Jack O’Brien each netted scores in the second period. O’Brien’s goal came with only 1 second left in the period.
Everett (18-3-1-1, 38) avoided a shutout when Ryan Hofer scored his sixth goal of the season 2:20 into the third, but Robbi Fromm-Delorme made it a six-goal game against just over one minute later.
Jaydon Bureau finish with a game-high three assists for Portland.
Winterhawks goaltender Dante Giannuzzi stopped 31 of 32 shots.
Braden Holt had 14 saves on 18 chances and Koen MacInnes 9 on 12 for the Silvertips, losers of four of the past five.
